What are the differences in brain waves?

Delta Waves (1hz-4hz) are responsible for Sleep, repair, complex problem solving, unawareness, deep-unconsciousness

Theta Waves (4-8hz) are responsible for Creativity, insight, deep states, unconsciousness, optimal meditative state, depression, anxiety, distractibility

Alpha waves (8-13hz) are responsible for Alertness and peacefulness, readiness, meditation, deeply-relaxed

Upper alpha waves (10-13hz) are responsible for Recalling past information

SMR( Sensorimotor Rhythm) waves (13-15hz)are responsible for mental alertness, physical relaxation.

Beta waves (15-20hz) are responsible for thinking, focusing, sustained attention, tension, alertness, excitement.

High Beta waves (20-32hz) are responsible for Intensity, hyperalertness, anxiety

Gamma waves (32-100hz or 40hz) are responsible for learning, Learning, cognitive processing, problem-solving tasks, mental sharpness, brain activity, organize the brain

How is neurofeedback used to treat ADHD?

Neurofeedback Therapy for ADHD is what most patients like to call a massage for your brain but the therapeutic effect is self-produced by the patients and encourages self-regulation of brain activity.

Treatment methods are noninvasive and always free of drugs and were supervised by a psychologist or therapist that has at least a master's degree in a psychological related field. Neurofeedback helps attention deficit hyperactivity disorder by encouraging the brain to be more focused and making it easier for the individual to concentrate.

Neurofeedback can also improve one's memory, motor control over the hands, and the ability to understand language structures by smoothing out differences in brain waves that may not match a person's verbal proficiency.

The rare side effects typically mild are temporary such as short-term headaches. Following continual neurofeedback sessions, patients will be able to improve their focus at non-preferred tasks as well as improve brain coordination.

How can neurofeedback help my attention deficit hyperactivity disorder?

Neurofeedback can help ADHD by reducing overall brain wave activity, increasing needed beta waves. The patient takes a seat in a quiet room while the sensors are attached (with wires) to the head. As seen above, there is an EEG cap that contains electrodes that can sense brain waves and transmit them to the computer.

Training starts with evaluation from Dr. Kaufmans's team of clinicians who provide recommendations on how often sessions should occur as well as what type of treatment may be most helpful for you/ your child. A typical session with us starts by relaxing the body, then uses advanced software to read brain waves which are shown on the screen in front of you. When you notice excessive slow or fast activity, this process can be described as having the ability to either "chill out" your brain waves or speed them up. It's important to note that our technology is non-invasive.

What is the science of Neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback training is a 30-minute session most often provided 2-3 times per week for 8 - 20 weeks. Neurofeedback techniques teach you how to manage/regulate over-active parts of the brain, slowing down excessively fast activity caused by some brains being naturally faster than others. This technique can improve symptoms related to PTSD and ADHD without the need for medication.

Can Neurofeedback Los Angeles Help my anxiety?

Anxiety is one of the most common mental health problems in America it ''has become common" says Dr. Ronald Kaufman. Traditional talk-therapists use the technique of pointing to the source of an anxious thought and challenging it before they become a reality.

Biofeedback will help individuals with anxiety through noninvasive treatment modalities by helping the brain process as it 'transmit less irregular brain waves eliminating all your stress sensation and calm in. You can change your life through the combination of these therapies.

Can I use Neurofeedback for depression?

Depressive symptoms are caused by brain-wave patterns that stick out. As the medication works with suppressing symptoms the symptoms do not cause the problem.

Brainfeedback works best in conjunction with talk therapy to help you to make deep and long a lasting changes and introduce the everyday life of the user - not just on the therapy sofa.

Does EEG Neurofeedback and Autism work?

What is Brain mapping?

At the core of all treatment procedures at the Drake Institute is qEEG brain assessment. For medical professionals, it provides a clear view to where neurodegeneration is happening. This analysis can determine if dysregulation arises from over or under activated brain regions or abnormal functional connectivity.

The results are inspected from an FDA-registered regulatory database which allows FDA to identify deviations from what is considered normal activities.

Depending on your clinical experience a custom diagnosis protocol can be designed which will provide ADHD relief by improving one's brain capacity to perform tasks better.

Who can benefit from neurofeedback?

Neurofeedback will help people cope with many different symptoms. FDA authorized it for reducing stress. The American Academy of Pediatrics has considered it an evidence-based intervention to treat ADHD.

It helps people to maintain their own good mental functioning or to achieve higher performances. It has been shown to help you with psychological symptoms linked to: physical, emotional and behavioral symptoms that affect your daily functioning.

As cited by the American Academy of Pediatrics for helping children with ADHD. It can be helpful for anyone with an issue related to the disorders or symptoms.

What does a neurofeedback session look like?

The 45-minute session for the neurological evaluations should have two per week for the highest results. You won't even experience an electric shock.

Your brain waves are transmitted to a computer that processes and displays them on the screen. Each session progresses through software providing accurate feedback of a correct brain wave.

In long-term sessions, the brain advances to the upper levels of brain functioning. For better results, a session lasts about 45 minutes and should last a couple of weeks for best results. For further information go here.

Neurofeedback therapy for kids?

This is a commonly asked question. Children can all benefit from neurofeedback sessions. In fact, this form of training has helped many autistic children increase their sociability levels dramatically as well as reaching new heights academically. Neurofeedback also improves attention span and motor skills.

However, remember that the earlier you begin your child's treatment, the better results you can achieve. The human brain grows rapidly during childhood so the best time to start working on improving your child's abilities is while they are young children. Neurofeedback is safe but make

How does neurofeedback help los angeles ca?

So that your brain can function optimally is crucial. Suf-Regulation training is beneficial for maintaining the functional system in the brain. Neurofeedback is an act like putting the brain on the staircase stepper for a certain set of regulator functions. This is applicable to a large number of functioning defects.

We are teaching brains the ability to regulate. Simply detecting brains on different tracks via the EEG can train to improve a level of stability as well as the ability to improve cognition and mindfulness.

In other terms, Neurofeedback is similar to a neurological gym, helping the brain train for difficult tasks kind of like a stair stepper for your brain.

Harvard researchers in neurofeedback have proven that this brain exercise can help patients who have been diagnosed with ADD, anxiety disorders, and other behavioral dysfunctions.

Our Neurofeedback Sessions

Neurofeedback sessions can run for 15, 30 or 45-minute increments. Equipment is used to monitor brain wave activity, and through this monitoring, we are able to identify any malfunctions in the brain waves. We provide a series of exercises that work with those malfunctions and retrain your mind to become more balanced. The result? You're calmer, have fewer mood swings, sleep better at night and focus is easier.

First Session:  After you arrive for your first session here at FamilyTime Centers, our welcoming staff will let you know what the day's schedule will entail and answer any questions you may have. They'll also help get your paperwork done before hand

Second session: You will arrive and jump right into the action, by identifying how you have been since the last appointment and see if the neurofeedback machine was configured correctly or if it may need some modifications to help you process your protocol more effectively.

Third Session: Again you will be asked to talk about how your body, mind and spirit are doing. While we work to configure your machine even further.

Fourth Session: You'll again need to report on how everything is going in your life since the last appointment.

Fifth session: Progress assessment is made yet again, asking questions such as how have things been going for you? What changes have you noticed in yourself? etc.

Sixth Sessions, The Final "Fine Tuning" of the Neurofeedback Protocol:  As this is the final session it is important to give an accurate snapshot of where you stand after completing all 5 sessions so far. This lets us know that we are indeed at the end of our time together and makes a proper closure possible.

Neurofeedback: What the experts say

Neurofeedback enables to the removal of symptoms and develops healthy self-regulation. It is a powerful tool that happens partially when one becomes involved at this phase of his/her treatment and becomes responsible for more personal physiological responses.

Critics of EEG and Neurofeedback regard this treatment to more rigor than drugs. When combined with supportive therapies such as family counseling and education therapy, combination therapy provides the most effective treatment. It can make a huge difference in a child's learner's ability and character, he says.

What's the difference between EEG Biofeedback and Neurofeedback?

EEG Biofeedback uses no electrodes since it is concerned with one's brainwave patterns. It measures your mental state by looking at the actual electrical activity of your brain waves.

This activity is recorded on a machine that looks something like an ECG or EKG. Neurofeedback uses small electrodes attached to the scalp that pick up these same electrical signals through the skull and send them to a computer for analysis.

The patient must be trained to relax both mentally and physically so that this nervous system can settle into its most relaxed state possible during biofeedback training sessions. The measurements of the brain states are correlated with symptoms reported by patients in order to develop a treatment plan which will achieve optimal results for each individual.

Neurofeedback in comparison to other techniques is called "soft biofeedback" because it does not require the active participation of the patient. In order to achieve therapeutic results, the patient simply relaxes and gets feedback about his/her state.

The benefits of this treatment are many and include relief from anxiety, pain control, headaches, depression, and insomnia as well as a multitude of other physical and mental disorders. Our trained neurofeedback specialists can help you find out what will work for you.

Neurofeedback has been used successfully in treating ADD / ADHD, addiction recovery (alcoholism, drug abuse), brain injury rehabilitation (including coma and vegetative patients), chronic stress management strategies such as burnout or fatigue syndrome, depression including seasonal affective disorder. A number of health professionals have seen brain function improve with noninvasive mental health treatments mapping the brain with cutting-edge medical technology.
